Howard Concrete Pumping Welcomes New Employee

Lindsay Amodei, a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health and Safety Management, is currently Howard Concrete Pumping’s newest addition. As of May, she joined Howard Concrete Pumping as their Safety Intern. She will be reviewing and updating all of Howard Concrete Pumping’s safety documents and programs, as well as implementing an Emergency Action Plan for all three facilities. She looks forward to continuing to keep Howard Concrete Pumping's impeccable safety record constant and adding in improvements anywhere she can. Remember, safety isn't expensive, it’s priceless!

Howard Concrete Pumping Adds Putzmeister 47 Meter

Howard Concrete Pumping: World of Concrete 2010 At the World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Howard Concrete Pumping displayed the newest addition to its diverse fleet of concrete pump trucks – a Putzmeister 47 meter “Z” boom pump-truck.

This pump truck features a versatile, 5-section boom with over 151 feet of reach. The “Z” boom configuration allows for easy unfolding in low-headroom situations.

With a minimum unfolding height of 31 feet and 2 inches and a compact outrigger footprint, this boom pump is the perfect combination of reach
and versatility.

Further, the 5 inch diameter boom pipe provides
unrestrictive pumping of high volumes and harsh mixes.

Howard Concrete Pumping Awards Employees for Safe 2009

Howard Concrete Pumping, for a second year in a row, had no lost-time workplace injuries and no OSHA recordable incidents. In recognition for this outstanding achievement, Howard Concrete Pumping employees were awarded with Trident HP ™ flashlights from Streamlight©. These flashlights feature three power settings, LED lights, and can be mounted on hard-hats. Lynn Crayne, Safety Officer of Howard Concrete Pumping, said, “These flashlights will aid our employees in safely working in low-light situations.”

Howard Concrete Pumping Receives Accreditation as a Geothermal Loop Installer

The International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) of Stillwater, OK has conferred accreditation to Howard Concrete Pumping for vertical loop installation of geothermal systems. As an accredited vertical loop installer, Howard Concrete Pumping is able to drill, install, and grout vertical geothermal systems using the latest expertise and industry best practices. Geothermal systems harness free energy from the Earth for heating and cooling purposes and are perfect for homes, apartment complexes, businesses, schools, and more.

Howard Concrete Pumping Adds Navtrak GPS Units
Howard will be installing GPS units on all their concrete pumps located at the Pittsburgh branch as part of a trial program. The GPS units will be provided and serviced by Navtrak of Salisbury, MD.

The units provide real time information to the Howard dispatchers. With this information, we hope to provide timelier customer service and hopes to increase pump utilization rates. After a two month trial period, GPS units will likely be installed on the entire Howard fleet.

Construction Completed at Howard Concrete Pumping’s St. Louis Location

Howard Concrete Pumping: St. Louis Location May 13, 2009
Plocher Construction Company of Highland, IL completed the construction of our office and shop facility. Our new facility is located on 8 acres at the Belle Valley Industrial Park in Belleville, IL. It includes five truck bays featuring radiant concrete floors, a large parts room, and nearly 2000 square feet of office space.

Regarding this new facility, Frank Howard Jr., President of Howard Concrete Pumping, indicated, “It is essential in our commitment to providing quality and dependable service to our customers
in St. Louis and the surrounding region.”

Record Concrete Placement at the Prairie State Energy Campus in April

Howard Concrete Pumping: Harrison Power Station May 4, 2009
The Prairie State Energy Campus, a large coal-fired power plant under construction in Illinois, placed a record 16,100 cubic yards of concrete for the month of April. Howard Concrete Pumping supported this placement in providing numerous concrete pumps and Telebelt conveyors. Among the equipment provided by Howard Concrete Pumping are a new 2008 Schwing 58M boom pump, a 2007 Schwing 52M RZ boom pump, and a 2007 Putzmeister Telebelt 110 conveyor.

Howard Concrete Pumping Awarded Contract at Consol Energy Center

Howard Concrete Pumping: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh PA March 2009
P.J. Dick Inc/Hunt Construction Joint Venture, the Construction Manager for the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, has awarded the concrete pumping to Howard Concrete Pumping.

This is a project that Pittsburgh sports fans have greatly anticipated in a new multi-purpose arena. Securing the concrete pumping services for the new Consol Energy Center, which is to be completed in the fall of 2010, Howard Concrete Pumping is expected to pump nearly 15,000 cubic yards of concrete to top out the new 720,000 square foot structure.

The new home for the Pittsburgh Penguins will seat 18,087 and will showcase a long list of state of the art technology and amenities.

First Place Sales Award Given to Howard Concrete Pumping at the 2009 World of Concrete

Howard Concrete Pumping: 2009 World of Concrete Sales Award February 2, 2009
At the 2009 World of Concrete, held in Las Vegas, Schwing America presented Howard Concrete Pumping with the First Place Sales Award for 2008. This award is given to the Schwing Dealer/Distributor who sells the most Schwing boom pumps in the United States. Of this award, Zachary Hritz, Sales Manager of Howard, said, “This is truly an honor for our company, and we would like to thank all of our valuable customers who supported us in this goal.”

Howard Concrete Pumping Takes Delivery on a Schramm 450GT

Howard Concrete Pumping: Schramm 450GT January 19, 2009
Schramm Inc. of West Chester, PA delivered a new 2008 Schramm 450GT drill rig to Howard's Pittsburgh location. The drill rig is track-mounted on a Caterpillar 350L under-carriage and features: a 28 ft. mast, 1,050 CFM Sullair air compressor, 15 rod “Lazy Susan” carousel, 20 rod pipe rack, hands-free rod spinner, 15,000 lbs. winch, and dust collector. The Schramm 450GT is capable of drilling to depths of 1,400 feet and has 700 feet of drilling rods equipped on the unit.

Frank Howard III, Project Manager and Corporate Treasurer of Howard, noted, “The Schramm 450 greatly enhances our ability to drill deep holes productively.”

Howard expects to first use this new rig on the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Mon-Fayette Expressway expansion project.
